In a strong sign of the unity between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Arab tribes of Syria, General Mazlum Kobani, the leader of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), met with elders of a large number of Arab tribes in North and East Syria. In order to emphasize the unity among them, General Mazlum was presented with a tribal robe during the meeting, a meaningful gift expressing camaraderie and fellowship, which he donned during the event.
The elders and General Mazlum discussed the economic conditions of the Syrian people, considering the implementation of the Caesar Act sanctions, and the subsequent crash of the Syrian pound, as well as ways to offer aid to the agricultural sector and foster autonomy. They discussed a number of proposals to offer aid to the people of the region.
The parties reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of democracy of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), re-stating their commitment to a Syrian solution that respects the rights of all people, equality, diversity, equitable distribution of wealth, and community empowerment. They condemned the Turkish occupation of Syria and called for the withdrawal of Turkey from all sovereign Syrian territory.
