The skies above North-East Syria remain a source of anxiety and terror for the region’s people, as Turkish drone strikes have resumed against military and civilian members of the population. The Turkish military conducted eight drone strikes against members of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces, a Kurdish Red Crescent ambulance that was responding to the scene, and civilian homes around the town of Amude. According to the SDF, four of their soldiers were killed, and eleven civilians were wounded.

Less than three days later, another Turkish drone strike targeted a vehicle of the Asayish, or Internal Security Forces, which have been receiving extensive training from US and Coalition forces in recent months. Two Asayish members were wounded in the attack that took place in Kobani.

Both of these attacks took place shortly after Turkish threats to invade North-East Syria resumed as a result of plans by the Autonomous Administration to hold elections in June. These elections have since been postponed until August.
